Hair health care is one of the many reasons women opt to wear wigs. For me, it is the number one reason why I like to wear them. Wigs allow women, especially women of color, the ability to live active lives. I can go to the gym with ease, which is high on my priority list. I enjoy the feeling of still being well put together after it’s all said and done. The Constant combing and detangling process are at a minimal due to wigs. Your hair can be braided in a protective style, leaving it with room to grow and blossom.

Of course, the ability of “the switch up” is always fun. Wigs allow you the opportunity to be versatile. You can have a bob all winter long, and with a switch of the season, you could have long, lushes curls all down your back. Talk about feeling like a brand new woman! The versatility alone is another great reason to try a wig. Being a stylist, it is often fun to try new looks and wigs are not the exceptions.

Most of us live a life on the go; therefore, we always need helpful tips and tricks to save time. Best Wig Styles for Beginners

Bangs

One of the best wig styles for beginners are wigs with bangs! They always ten to look most natural. I prefer a naturally curly wig with bangs because it is one of the easiest to style with a more natural look. I like to rock a wig, but like most of you, I don’t want to look like I am wearing a wig. The more natural a look, the better. With bangs, you don’t have to deal with the fuss of a hairline, lace, etc. You can simply just get up and go.

Curly

Go Curly! A bang plus a curly look, and you are golden! I prefer natural curly wigs because it is one of the most believable wig styles. It also has a longer shelf life, and maintenance on this style wig is the best by far. Depending on what type of wig you have. All you need to keep it in top shape is a little water, wet brush, large tooth comb or finger comb and you are good to go!

Synthetic

What type of wig should you try? I suggest a synthetic wig or an inexpensive wig as a beginner. It is your first time, so you want to make sure you like it. If, for any reason and I am almost sure you will have one. You need to alter it in any way, you are guilt free and unbothered to try because you did not invest an arm and leg purchasing it. For women of color, you will be surprised how natural curly synthetic wigs look on us, once we start altering it a bit.

When shopping for your first wig, I recommend you research it! There are tons of great content creators out there that offer great wig reviews and tutorials. Some of my favorites are, It’s my Raye Raye, Jessica Pettway, and The Chic Natural. They not only show you how and where to get the latest wigs, but in many cases, they will offer some style of discount code, which we love! Another great way to shop for wigs is to go to your local beauty supply and try it on. Unless you frequent the same beauty supply and have a trusted relationship with the people there. I suggest taking a trusted friend with you. Make sure you are satisfied when you walk out! At most beauty supplies, all sales are final.

Since I suggested affordable wigs. I am going to suggest you try amazon. Yup, I said it! Everything is on Amazon, including wigs. The great thing about Amazon is thier ability to provide you with both reviews and pictures. I would not recommend buying anything from Amazon if it doesn’t provide you with reviews. These things are essential because not only do you get to read people reviews, but you also get to see the wigs and how they styled. My First wig is also another great site that is semi-affordable and user-friendly. Last but not least, rpgshow.com. It is the most expensive of the three but its a pretty reputable company. It is also the sister company to Myfirstwigs.com. For both of these sites, there are tons of YouTubers doing wig reviews and tutorials. Find your fave one and dive into their tips and tricks!

Hair Dressers

Just because I like to wear wigs, does not mean I do not have a trusted Hair Dresser. For me, it is a must! And my hairdresser and I are like best buds. She keeps my hair healthy and strong, and I just maintain her efforts by implementing protective styles. Hairdressers are agreat resoue. They can install your wigs, make your wigs, and suggest wig styles that may work best for you. Definitely a major tool in my tool box!

About the look

In the Spirit of wigs, this look came about from a wig shoot I did that day. I teamed up with a bay area Hairstylist and wig technician, Lady Dy. She is a hair dress and a custom wig designer. I really wanted to showcase her wigs, so I went for a minimal look. Very neutral up top, allowing her beautiful wigs to get their debut!
